ASHLAND — Ashland University Student Organizations will commemorate Veterans Day with a meaningful event titled “Vietnam Survival: There and Home,” set for Nov. 11, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Ashland University Chapel.
This unique program will feature Vietnam veteran and author Greg Gorrell, who will lead a discussion on the physical, emotional, and societal impacts of the Vietnam War—both during the war and in the years following.
Gorrell, who has devoted much of his life to sharing veterans’ stories and advocating for a deeper understanding of their experiences, will provide firsthand insights into the challenges of war and the ongoing journey home many veterans face.
The event aims to honor veterans, educate the public, and encourage thoughtful dialogue about the lasting effects of Vietnam on service members and the nation. Students, faculty, community members, and veterans are invited to attend.
“We are proud to welcome Greg Gorrell to Ashland University for this significant conversation,” event organizers stated. “Veterans Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by those who served, and this event offers an opportunity to learn, reflect, and express gratitude.”
This Veterans Day program is partially supported by Ashland University College Republicans, ‘In a Soldier’s Shoes Foundation’, and Ashland University Veterans Center.
