Annually, Ashland University's Kappa Sigma fraternity hosts the Mile in a Soldier’s Shoes event to support homeless veterans and those in need. Participants, including fraternity members and community supporters, carry an extra 40 pounds to simulate the daily experiences of active-duty soldiers as they run a route starting and ending at the campus flagpole.
